About me

I am a Uruguayan essayist writing on political philosophy, technology, and conflict.

An engineer and technology entrepreneur, I am the founder and CEO of Ikatu, a pioneering home-automation firm, and the founder of Privnote, the first web service for self-destructing messages, with no account and no trace. Privacy as a fundamental right, the condition of freedom of thought: a conviction the book holds. I pursued my postgraduate training in mechanical and electrical engineering in the United States and Canada, with a doctorate in Electrical Engineering from McGill University. My perspective combines technical thinking, systems architecture, advanced automation, and applied cryptography.

Under the alias jikatu I have built an extensive photographic body of work, published under Creative Commons and used internationally.

As a thinker, I carry that systemic perspective into the field of political and moral conflict: I examine how propaganda, language, technology, and collective passions lay siege to public reason and erode the possibility of judgment.

Where the sequence breaks, the alibi is born.
Reason Under Siege

I have completed Reason Under Siege, an essay in political philosophy now in the editorial process. In parallel, I publish op-eds in the Uruguayan press on the application of philosophical doctrine to contemporary cases.
